Sussex IDVA Service

Independent Domestic abuse advisor’s and Community response hub:

South of England Sussex IDVA Service

What’s new?

We are extending our new Community Response hub structure (remotely at first with the intention of establishing a physical base in the long-term) into the South of England with a dedicated IDVA team assigned to the hub who will be assisting with case work and support for domestic abusive victims across East and West Sussex and Brighton and Hove.

Our Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs) are trained in providing specialist support to victims of domestic abuse. They have knowledge and expertise in providing emotional and practical advice, guidance and support to help an individual to become and remain safe in their home and community.

What services we provide

Hourglass offers a freephone and confidential helpline service Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm as well as options for SMS text, email and instant messaging. The helpline can refer you to our Sussex based IDVA service who will contact you to support you with your concerns or queries. Find out how to get support here

We can assist with:

  • Casework to help you make informed choices, access support or challenge a decision

  • Tailored one-to-one support. We work on each case in a person-centred way, focusing on the individual client and their needs.

  • Advocating on your behalf

  • Follow-up calls to provide ongoing support and check-ins

  • A range of information materials, including our online Knowledge Bank – the UK’s first ever specialist knowledge bank specifically relating to the abuse of older people and safer ageing.
